Group CLASSES

  • Improvisation

    Learn how knowledge of music and the instrument can free your mind to explore without written music. Learn techniques passed down from improvisational masters including Paul Bley, Danilo Perez, Bob Moses and others. This session will dive deep into the ways to find your own voice while melding with the natural elements of music. This class will include listening and relaxation skills, connecting the body to performance, and playing from different musical prompts. Bring your ears and instruments.

  • How to play every song

    Have you ever wondered how some people seem to know every song? How some musicians can anticipate what is coming next in a song without sheet music? Do you want to know the secrets to this technique? If so, this course is for you. I will teach you how a few simple patterns make up most of the music we hear, and how to look for the and hear the relationships. This course will leave you listening to and playing music in a completely new and confident way.

  • Mastery of Ear Training

    Did you take ear training in college and never quite felt you mastered it? Do you try to learn music off of records but struggle to remember what you have learned? Does it seem to you a daunting task to learn how to hear chords and intervals? What if I told you that rather than having to learn all of the intervals and chords in existence, I can show you how to simple intervals, the half-step and the whole-step, can unleash your ability to identify 95% of all music? This course will do just that, focus on a manageable and profoundly simply way of hearing the connections between music.
